No there is no application fee.

You need to register on our online platform here, complete an online questionnaire, and upload the required documentation. 

Students, startups, academic institutions & registered companies in India & NRIs all welcome to enter the 5G Hackathon!

Yes! You can enter as an individual or team working in academic, research, or commercial start-up setting and have an innovative 5G product or solution.

You or your team leader needs to complete and submit all the application materials before the midnight deadline on 31st March, 2020 IST.

No, applicants are responsible for their travel costs related to attending pitch events and mandatory in-person events, where applicable.

5G Hackathon event is open to all the stakeholders who may participate as individuals, teams, companies, etc. and may work individually or as a team on ideas/concepts/solutions and present use cases for the 5G network. Entry categories for demonstrating Use of 5G Technology of focus can be found here. Only 5G use cases applicable in the Indian context are acceptable.

5G Hackathon will evaluate all applications based on value, strength, and execution plan. The strength for each category is evaluated using multiple metrics.

  • Value– product, relevance for 5G, business model & economics, competition, IP, market opportunity, and benefit
  • Strength– team strength, development plan, responsiveness/coachable, freedom to operate, funding to date, resources needed
  • Execution plan– stage of development, evidence, time to market, traction, partnerships & relationships, time to key milestones, upcoming funding
  • Interaction with evaluation is also used as an evaluation metric.

Yes! DoT encourages applications from companies at all stages of fundraising, from friends and family to seed and beyond to apply to the 5G Hackathon. Preference is given to companies with transformative potential and those who will benefit the most from working with DoT and the 5G trial participants.

All finalists of Phase 3 are offered mentoring support to meet with subject matter and technology experts to refine their products and solutions for demonstration in 5G trial network.

No, but you may have to relocate to 5G trial location to gain access to the 5G trial network and you may have to ink agreement with TSPs and OEMs. This is a great way to do it!

Yes, NRI applicants are welcomed and are encouraged to apply.

Unfortunately, due to the high number of applications, we cannot provide a written explanation to every applicant who isn’t selected as a finalist. Most times, it is due to not being properly aligned with the call for applications.
